Q: I was wondering why this revised English translation of the General Instruction (2003) was not the one chosen to be printed in the Third Editions of the Roman Missal. It seems to me that the one chosen is the 1970 edition of Paul VI. I suspect I’m missing something here.

A: The General Instruction has been revised with each edition of the missal, though it keeps the same name. The version in the third edition is a revised English translation of the GIRM in force.
