All the Faithful Departed

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

The pastor at the parish where I serve has asked me to celebrate the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed on Saturday, November 02 at 5pm (at the time of their regularly scheduled Sunday vigil Mass). I presume that this is a pastoral accommodation for the members of the parish. However, doesn’t the liturgical day for the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed begin with First Vespers on November 01 and conclude before the Sunday vigil Mass on Saturday, November 02?

Here’s a related post from a couple of years ago: https://paulturner.org/solemnity-of-mary/

And this one more recently: https://paulturner.org/mass-on-november-2-2019/

I’m sticking with my opinion that because the faithful are obligated to participate at Sunday mass, and not at an All Souls Mass, that the Sunday mass texts should be given to them because it is a regularly scheduled mass.
