More on Conditional Baptism

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: Members of  our RCIA  group have indicated a prior baptism in a Christian denomination but are unable to locate an original  record for evidence of baptism. What would be the best way to handle this situation? Conditional Baptism?

A: Many Christian denominations do not keep records of valid baptisms. The best way to handle this is get a couple of witnesses to declare that the baptism took place. Photos would also help.

Please do not conditionally baptize anyone without doing due diligence over the baptism, and securing the bishop’s direction on how much of the ceremony to conduct.
