Paschal candle

In Paul Turner's Blog by Paul Turner

Q: Is it permitted to have last year’s paschal candle in our chapel?  This would facilitate baptisms and funerals, as at present we have to haul the paschal candle over from the church. The chapel is separate, and not visible from the church. Thank you for your advice!

A: I do not know of any permission, so I would look to question 14 here for guidance: http://www.usccb.org/prayer-and-worship/liturgical-year/triduum/questions-and-answers.cfm
The USCCB suggests that when mission churches are involved in a single vigil, extra paschal candles are all lighted together, and then brought to their respective locations. It would be far better to use a current paschal candle than an old one.
